You clearly havent see the Fiat Multipla ![]()
I’d take a Multipla over a Tesla any day…
In terms of design and style, absolutely.
That’s not a “real” Multipla, this is a real Multipla…

Its not going far with that short lead ![]()
“so called “because it has a double meaning.
It refers to fuel extracted by mining extinct flora and fauna which has decomposed.
It also refers to the users of the fuel who will become extinct once the oil runs out.
Precisely @JohnH, but we have to recognise that many people just can’t afford to make the change at the moment. Having said that, what I cannot understand is that many drivers in this position make up other excuses for not going electric and simply repeat the Oil Company mantra about batteries, tyres, weight, range etc. many of which have long since been discredited instead of promoting the need to make the change
We CAN save the planet – but we WON’T
You see lots and lotsof them here parked outside the Uni and the Lycées all in rows. God knows how the owners find them again!
And only seventy years later we have this!
I love them, one of my students has a pale green with a stripey dash, so cute!!!
I have a pale blue multipla, currently off the road but its a great car / van!!
but we have to recognise that many people choose not to make the change at the moment.
There you go Mik corrected for you ![]()
That is not what I meant JonBoy but if that is what the situation really is then it is even more appalling. Deliberately choosing to be part of the destruction of the health of people, the environment and the planet is unconscionable.
EV evangelism yet again. Give it a rest, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
So my refusal to ditch my diesel powered vehicles in favour of battery power is a deliberate attempt on my part to destruct peoples health. What irreplaceable bit of our planet went into producing your EV and what energy was expended in the disposal of your fossil fuel car, unless of course it is still on the road under new ownership.
I’ve had the jobo’s round twice in a fortnight ringing my bell, ignored them second time as they are a waste of oxygen but this sort of argument EV v petrol/diesel might stop them calling altogether. ![]()

Evangalism, willy waving, virtual signalling or even headache inducing are criticisms that go straight over my head. They are only a reflection of a weak argument.
So my refusal to ditch my diesel powered vehicles in favour of battery power is a deliberate attempt on my part to destruct peoples health.
If you say so John but that is nothing to do with what I said.
What irreplaceable bit of our planet went into producing your EV and what energy was expended in the disposal of your fossil fuel car,
That is very much like the old joke of saying if I want to get there I wouldn’t start from here.
Here is where we are. It is the direction we choose NOW that matters.
unless of course it is still on the road under new ownership.
In which case, we have one ICE and one EV on the road instead of two ICE cars which is a step in the right direction.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
On this we CAN agree.
I regret that some people are uncomfortable with me expressing my opinions. I can only repeat my earlier reluctant conclusion.
We CAN save the planet but we WON’T
We CAN save the planet but we WON’T
I’d prefer a more relevant version of that phrase, as the plant itself will survive the human race by a very long time.
i.e. We CAN save ourselves & our offspring, but we WON’T.
Has anyone been following the current research on carbon 14 batteries? When I first saw comments about batteries that will not need recharging for 5,700 years I had to check the date was not April 1st. The origin of the information seemed a little dubious at first but I did finally find a reasonably good source
carbon 14 batteries
They might not need charging but they are only good for applications that need nanowatts of power.
I believe they were talking about microwatts rather than nanowatts so that is (I think) 1000 times more powerful – but still very very small.
But as the expression goes – many an ache from a corn does grow (or something like that). It is a step in the right direction. I guess the important factor is the power/weight ratio.
It still sounds like incredible technology.
Unless we make progress in researching we would never discover new technologies so I am pleased to see progress in any avenue because who knows what discoveries they could make.
Indeed, once we are all converted to EV it may become clear that it was the worst thing since sliced bread after all, and the new power unit simply needs fresh air. ![]()
