EV - buy or wait?

I’ll leave this here, a report of an incident this weekend in my area.

Six crews attended the blaze at Carlton Distribution Centre as the joint fire control received a ‘high number of calls’ and reassured members of the public that they were at the scene and dealing with the incident.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, firefighters found multiple vehicles alight. The fires were extinguished, but a total 20 vehicles were damaged. There were no injuries.

“The cause of the incident is believed to have been spontaneous combustion of an electric vehicle, which then spread to nearby cars.”

Believed to be is not proven and it needs to state the vehicle concerned. BYD had a bit of a problem the other day with a pretty large fire at one of the factory buildings.

There are still, proportionally, many times more car fires caused by ICE cars than electric cars, and the damage they can cause is just as bad. This was discussed earlier in this thread.

Early days but after two surveys it seems that low emission zones are helping.

I’m sure they do.

I used to commute daily by car from Woolwich to Fulham in the early 90s and the pollution definitely damaged my lungs.

Whilst its possible, it can also apply to the roads they are measuring rather than the area that other vehicles are being pushed to use to avoid charges. Shifting an issue rather than curing it, we hope it improves things.

It’s is not necessarily shifting the problem. It is the clearest evidence that EVs are the way to go and thinking people make the switch.
