I’m thrilled to join this forum as I embark on a new chapter in life! I’m a UK national who spent 20 years as an expat before returning to the UK over a decade ago. Now, it’s time to move again—this time to beautiful France, hopefully in early 2025.
I’m currently in the process of purchasing a property in France and preparing a business plan to apply for a liberal professional visa (micro-entrepreneur). It’s all very exciting, though there’s a lot to figure out!
I’m sure I’ll have a billion questions as I navigate this journey, but for now, I’d love to hear from anyone who’s gone through the process of submitting a business plan to DREETS. How long did it take for them to approve your plan (fingers crossed for approval!) after submission?
Looking forward to learning from all of you and sharing experiences along the way.
I believe the avis favorable is sent vey promptly.
However I did not think prof libs had to obtain this. I thought it was mainly for commercial and possibly artisanal activities.
But if you apply and it is not needed they will simply tell you so, it is not a problem beyond a few days wasted.
… and also a welcome to the forum from me. It has helped me to learn many new things, but not necessarily France related, and sometimes even quite useful.
If I may offer some helpful advice - newcomers to the forum should avoid the politics category of the forum where they are liable to self-combust in an explosion of acronyms and effrontery.
Hi @CMB - I’d like to welcome you too! There are some very knowledgable people on here who should be able to help with any questions you have. I agree with @Mik_Bennett 's comment about the Politics category - in fact I’ve muted it so I don’t see it!
I think that depends on how many of them there are - it can be quite overwhelming at times! Having said that, I don’t generally mute threads but I have muted one category (and set a few people to “ignore” status so that I can read them if I want and not see them if I don’t).
If you’re happy with the way you manage the list @David_Spardo then that’s great but I suppose it depends what different people want out of the group.
But how can you decide whether to look at them after all, now and again, how do you know they are even there, and live? And if you can, and decide not to, how has muting made any difference?
Those are not rhetorical questions, I genuinely don’t know how it works in practice.
Another thing which stumps me is that I visit every alert I get and every unread post several times a day if I am here, but now and again I click ‘Topics’ and find things ages old that I didn’t even know were there. In effect the system here is muting stuff for itself, without any help from me.
At one time the whole topic was so toxic that just simply scrolling through the forum list made me not want to participate in the forum.
More recently there has been a wider response pushing back against the toxic approach to politics, and that’s improved the forum again. Before that happened I’d been starting to question if, after all, SF was something I wanted to continue being a part of. I also appreciated that someone kindly reached out (please forgive the expression) making me realise I wasn’t alone in those feelings.
I’ve muted anything which I really cannot help with, nor need to know…
but mostly anything which makes folk quarrel.
I really don’t need any aggression in my life at the moment. @David_Spardo Anything which is muted doesn’t appear on my screen(unless I especially search for it) and therefore doesn’t even make me twinge… hurrah.
Sending happy thoughts to everyone
I’ve ignored several threads because the title doesn’t interest me. However when I opened one by mistake I was pleasantly surprised, the current content had nothing to do with the title but thread drift had move it onto something that I did enjoy.
