For us it was

RN. 41.5%
ENS. 36.4%
REN. 11.3%
ECO. 5.6%

The Aveyron is divided into three circumscriptions - pleased to see that ours was:-

EN 43.58
RN 31.48
UG 22.74

The results in the other sections were fairly even three way splits. so hopefully the RN won’t win here, despite this being a largely rural departement

I note that Bardello has already announced RN will not change this should/when they come to power. Common sense.

The Var can’t get much worse than last time, but with all the headless chicken activity on the left and the moderate right maybe we’ll improve a bit. Though five of the eight (Julie LECHANTEUX, Philippe SCHRECK, Laure LAVALETTE, Frank GILETTI and Philippe LOTTIAUX) are already elected so only three seats left to fight for.

It’s all to do with the use of fear as a political weapon. How much of what our politicians say (either British or French) is not addressed to dealing with the fears, real or manufactured, of the population. Doom and gloom are for more motivational than visions of the sunlit uplands. That is not to say that some of the concerns voiced by politicians are not valid and relevant,

The current mayor of Perpignan is Louis Aliot. Marine LePen’s former boyfriend. How come he gets elected.? Because at ,least in part ,he reflects the widespread lack of interest in the policy of local politicians of supporting the Catalan identity. Aliot is effectively an outsider. Like so many of the the inhabitants of the PO including me. And the local politicians who are mostly born and bred down here are blind to the changes in the local demogaphics

I’m from the 2nd circonscription in the Var. The FN now RN have always been very popular

The wider constituency / circonscription

   % Exprimés

UG 31,79%
ENS 18,59%

Here in Calvados, commuting distance to Caen:
Ensemble 41.03%
RN 37.82%
UG 17.31%

Defo hold off as regardless, GBP would normally strengthen after the UK election.

Looks like Macron read the room right but we don’t have a solution here.

So sad to see French people themselves vote for what will lose them precious things many don’t seem to realise they have. A bit like the British at Brexit, really.

it’s not all over yet
 another Vote to go
 :crossed_fingers:

Over the years, we’ve seen our Commune vote RN on the first vote
then they do a complete about-turn on the second vote

I’m amazed at how RN has the majority vote in most places around here in 34, but not really surprised, as folks yet again clinging onto the hope that change is for the better with appropriate messages pushed out to appeal to the disheartened. Rightly or wrongly, we now know better!

You might find this interesting to understand why:

I had a video call with a French friend today.

For him, even at the first round, it’s like what Remainers woke up to the day after the Referendum. Like you don’t know your country as well as you thought.

The forest shrank, but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that it was one of them because its handle was made of wood

Us , for example?

Alarming history!

I’m sure this is not unusual
Our constituency in Seine Maritime has traditionally been Horizon/Ensemble etc, but RN now lead. Mathematically it looks like its impossible for the outgoing Horizon Deputé to win in the second round.
