A few minutes distraction for rainy afternoon when I should be doing something else!
I was handed a man born in 411 BCE who died at 19 from pneumonia. Makes my life quite fantastic, and I get to eat chocolate.

Fascinating. Thank you. This is who I drew:
A boy was born in 30,977 BCE, in the Maghreb, near present-day Tunis; no name for him comes down to us. He was one of about 20 people in a mobile band. His home was a domed hut of saplings and thatch. He was the third of the family’s five children. At 18, he lost his father. He ate largely acorns, shellfish and coastal fish, land snails, and wild greens and bulbs, with seasonal wild olives. He was about 165 cm tall (5 ft 5 in).
At 16, he took a partner. His partner died at 29. He never had children. His farthest journey was 3 days’ walk, to a seasonal camp. He spoke an unrecorded prehistoric language; his faith was animism and shamanism. He spent his days as a maker of tools and weapons. He lived on what the band hunted and gathered. Death came at 45, in an accident.
You have a rainy afternoon! Lucky you. ![]()
Rain is a relative concept now. Turned out as 10 splots.
I got a boy, born in 744 CE on the Deccan plateau, married at 22, died of pneumonia aged 24 without issue.
Oh joy
at last I’m a real girl, Guinee Coast, paired at 16, 2 children neither of which escaped childhood and I drowned at 31.
I got a mediaeval Spanish serf who died when he was only sixteen.
Maybe we could have a who lives the longest competition…
I’m winning so far. ![]()
I’m m on a ferry about an hour from docking at Ouistreham and 5 mins of free Wi-Fi left, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
And my wife’s definitely losing - she got a Tibetan peasant’s baby that only lived a few days.
So sad
My sister is beating you hands down, she survived to 77 and had loads of descendants.
Who lives the life longest of the imaginary people it creates.. ![]()
This reminds me of the crazies who say they believe they were reincarnated. I can’t remember which comedian spoke about the fact it’s always the life of somebody who sounds exciting, like a Roman warrior or an Egyptian prince.
It’s never a toilet cleaner from slough who died 50 years ago.
Yet, most of the imaginary lives described above seem far less desirable than that of your Slough toilet cleaner…
Is it “cheat day” on your AI diet? ![]()
I died of neonatal sepsis in 720 BCE on the Ganges plain, zero days
Grim. Do you think we should ask @JaneJones to find us something more cheerful? ![]()
