Farage goosed, at last

I just watched this on C4 News too.

Looking forward to the criminal investigation into the lot of them :popcorn::popcorn:

I have a plan to greatly simplify elections. If you’ve seen the film Gladiator, you might be aware of the method.

Me too. I just wonder if this will cut through, as they say, to people who don’t really care about politics and politicians. And I fully expect Farage to spin it as the establishment trying to do a stitch up.

It’s a shame it’s come out in the middle of their conference though.

Tragic :joy:

I saw a bit of his diatribe, he and the orange were being persecuted for being ā€œoutsidersā€ Yes you are both outside of the laws, outside of society and outside the rules of being a politician.

I think a lot of political problems could be cured with government by sortition. Basically a number of citizens are chosen (more or less) randomly to sit as representatives, just as juries are chosen. They listen to experts and others arguing their cases. Then they decide how the country should move.
Political parties would be reduced to probably noisy, but otherwise powerless pressure groups.
Unlikely to happen anytime soon.
More likely, but still not very likely, is banning ALL financing of political parties. Parties should be paid by taxation. Amounts according to how many votes won, tied in with PR of course, and another amount for new parties starting up.

A full Manifesto commitment, together with a prospectus for new MPs along with application forms are available from me. Please send a PM with your RIB attached.

Back nearer the OP. RefUK Ltd now seem to have suspended a couple of officials. They have also complained about a sting operation…funded by…wait for it…foreign money!

When the 5 million Thai donation became public, their first line of defence was that the information was obtained illegally not that the donation was illegal.

Now they are saying they were tricked into revealing how they accept illegal donations.

The polling company has a lot to answer for as well.

Farage seems intent on dragging everybody into the sewer with him.

It appears to me that the polling company took money for it’s services legally?
.
Tice has been doing the rounds this morning. On BBC R4 he was interviewed by Nick Robinson in the 08hr10 slot. Tice was moaning about C4 mis-spending taxpayers money etc. I guess he was briefed on that by Mad Nad!

Maybe they stuck to the letter of the law but I would have difficulty believing any poll ever again.

ā€œShall we have four (oysters) eachā€

ā€œI’ll have half a dozenā€

Farage in a nutshell.

Yes, that was a revelation to me as well

Whilst Channel 4 have been at great pains to make it VERY clear that they have not paid of any of the polls/reporting/undercover reporters.

Guess who I beleive…?

I almost feel sorry for Tice*. It’s clear to me that he will be thrown to the wolves by Farage when there’s a big enough reason to create that diversion (& it will happen).

*I lied! I don’t feel sorry at all. He’s a textbook useful idiot.

His aid chap has (edit - two aids!!) been sacked!

The thing is, Farage will wriggle out of it, as he always does, by big crocodile tears on how he has been let down by those around him.

The cynic in me wonders how many political ā€˜aides’ of other parties are waking up this morning with the thought: there but for thegrace of God…They are all slime balls whatever their colour

C4 receive zero tax payer monies. If they want to spend on anything legal, that is surely a commercial or editorial decision? If advertisers disagree they can withdraw their custom.

I agree. The sound of straws being clutched by RefUKLtd is deafening.

If you have ever been on a jury, you would not be making the suggestion. My experince has been that out of the 12 of my so called ā€œpeersā€, only three (incl. me)out of the 11 were educated enough and with an attention span to follow the trial in order to make decisions based on evidence rather than preconceptions, their prejudicies and life experiences, etc

I appreciate that some may regard what I’m saying as outrageous…

I have done jury service.
Were all my fellows intelligent? Nope. Neither are all MPs.

Serving as Law Makers then all would have at the least, self interest to keep them awake and engaged.
Would some vote purely selfishly? Surely yes. So no difference there than MPs. However what is in the best intereat of Joe Bloggs is also in the interest of lots of Jo Smiffs from down the road too.

Certainly sortition has problems, but worse than having ā€œprofessional politiciansā€? I doubt it.

Sorry , but far from outrageous
