Fascism USA

Gents, I don’t think the purpose of the Nobel Peace Prize is to regulate someone’s future behaviour

I don’t think that Trump helping to get one good thing done (and that only so he’d win the prize) negates all of the other “unpeaceful” things he’s done, and will continue to do. He’s very transactional and always has been.

I can hardly wait to hear what that great misogynist Trump says about the lady who has been awarded this year’s Nobel Peace.

Now, there’s plenty of time for Nobel to wait and see what Trump does while they’re considering candidates for 2026. Maybe the delay will encourage him to utilise the forces of USA at his command to engineer an end to the woes of Ukraine without totally kowtowing to Putin. Or maybe, he’ll just embarrass himself mistreating his own electorate and be ousted from the stage

We discussed the Nobel peace prize winner earlier, we have an English friend staying. We thought the Mango Mussolini would be pretty upset that not only did he lose, it was to a woman - who defends democracy - and she’s Venezuelan.

I haven’t seen any reaction from him so far, I thought there would be an all caps pronouncement on Truth Social by now.

I think he’s at Walter Reed, having his second “annual physical“ in the last 6 months. Maybe they’ve sedated him.

I hope he doesn’t run into any ‘suckers and losers’ while he’s there. It might upset him.

lol, maybe he’ll want to join the ranks of being an EGOT, although since he spent years calling the EMMYs rigged because they wouldn’t give him one, he’d probably have to use extortion like he’s doing with the big media conglomerates if he has any hope of getting one in future.

It certainly didn’t with Obama who was awarded it for Not Being George Bush and went on to become The Drone King and The Mass Deporter.

Not super excited about this one:

Is she looking for a cabinet seat? Maybe wants to replace ‘Puppy Killer’ Kristi Noem?

:face_vomiting:

Maybe?

Would that avoid prison, or are we lucky enough that it would delay it ?

One of the other tactics I’m guessing he might use in order not to leave at the end of his term, other than staging another sit-in in the White House, might be to stir up a civil war he could claim needs his continuation for stability etc. And his efforts seem to be going towards supporting prople who make wars in the rest of the world, rather than any peace efforts unless there’s a bounty for the US.

Good to see Portland, Oregon sounding more like it was. I thought it had deteriorated the last time I was there and that was end 2018 or so. I had really liked it on previous visits as it was so different to other places I’d been in the US. Plus it rained all the time which made me feel right at home. So you’ll like the Loire too  .

He’ll never go to prison at this point. He’s too old. If he is ever convicted of anything again, he will appeal and further run out the clock. The optics of putting him in any sort of prisonother than ‘house’’ (Mar-a-Lardo) arrest would provoke a civil war,

Just watching him makes me doubt that he’s going to complete his term. The man is not well at all.

Are we seeing a competent honest leader coming through who could do the job next time round though ?

Hard to think of a Republican one…there are Democrats but Idon’t know how electable they would be. If the country really turns into a wasteland and enough people whohave just been sitting on their hards show up to vote, anything is possible.

Actually, Marjorie Taylor Greene lately is starting to sound halfway rational. Something snapped… She wants the Epstein files released and she’ wants something to be done NOW tomake healthcare affordable for her voters. Unbelievable…

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has the makings of a brilliant president in a few years, it just depends whether the republicans have done such a good job damaging her in the eyes of the electorate that she could never win enough of a cross section. She’d certainly be a breath of fresh air though, and is way smarter and a much better political operator, and a much better human being, than most seem to realise. Similar to Zohran Mamdani in the New York mayors race and Zack Polanski with the UK Greens she could be a very good option both for the party, and the country. But 6 years of propaganda against her may stick in the minds of too many potential voters.

AOC, Buttigieg, Harris (but I don’t see her running again), Whitmer, Shapiro; sadly, most of the best are not straight, white, or male, so we’ll see how far they get. At this point, Pritzker or Newsom would probably have the best chance of being elected. Neither would be my first choice, but they’d be a hell of a lot better than the dumpster fire that is the current admin.

Can any of you see the US voting for a female President in the foreseeable future?
