Perhaps you missed the clarification that for people who moved here before Brexit there is NO language requirement, now or in the future. The new immigration law only applies to third country nationals moving here, of whatever nationality.
So for people with a WARP card sure you only need what you need, but it’s entirely reasonable and not scaremongering to discuss the ease of living in a country with poor communication skills. For example, apart from certain professions it would be hard to get well paid job without it.

Hello! I absolutely agree with you, trying to enter the French workplace without good language skills is a no no (hard enough for French nationals to find a decent job), but I would hazard a guess that most folks on this website are early or late retirees.
For anyone reading this, the latest Galaxy phone (S24) has AI interpretation, and it’s a game changer, brilliantly easy to use and very accurate, pronunciations? Not a problem!j
I think you are probably right about the regular posters, although a couple of them are still of normal working age. However my experience is that younger people pop in and out when they have problems or questions.
But just because over State Pension age doesn’t mean we don’t work. Many have small businesses, actively volunteer, or are still conseilleurs for their commune. And have the time to communicate!

French radio (France Info, France Inter), French TV (mostly news channels though, these days - France24, Arte, France Info TV) - I read the online French press articles that I don’t have to pay for and that don’t bug me with their endless cookie / subscription pestering 
I used to have a subscription to the local rag, La Montagne, but it was so parochial, I stopped that. Also subscribed to a couple of French magazines, housy & DIY stuff that my wife likes to peruse.
Our home evening and weekend TV, if any, is UK channels over satellite, otherwise Netflix/Amazon, where my biggest gripe is Amazon’s annoying tendency to distribute some films in French only audio soundtrack, even if the film was released in English, with an English-speaking cast.
That said, French is my working language for nearly all of my clients, so I use it every day professionally, whether it be through interaction with them, the French administration, or my peers, suppliers, etc.

Hello @Pamela_Shields This is the legislation for the Withdrawal Agreement with regard to language as it will fall under the legislation of not imposing further conditions/limitations.
In the Withdrawal Agreement under Article 13 4. " The host State may not impose any limitations or conditions for obtaining, retaining or losing residence rights on the persons referred to in paragraphs 1, 2 and 3, other than those provided for in this Title. There shall be no discretion in applying the limitations and conditions provided for in this Title, other than in favour of the person concerned."
Under Article 18 there are items to note such as “(e) the host State shall ensure that any administrative procedures for applications are smooth, transparent and simple, and that any unnecessary administrative burdens are avoided”
