That’s why I am reaching out to you to ask if you have any information/advice about finding a place to live. Do you have an apartment for rent, or do you know anyone who has an apartment to rent? Visit some immobiliers who do locations. Don’t forget you will need renter’s insurance too and more than likely your avis d’imposition before signing any contracts.

I have a really good friend in Lyon - its very expensive to rent there…centrally in the city…have you tried Le Bon Coin ?
Yes, I am familiar with Leboncoin: it can be hit or miss. That’s why I am seeking input form other sources. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
When my son was a student we used Foncia to rent a garage for his car opposite his flat. They specialise in lettings and were very helpful although they are franchises so one may be better than another.

IIRC they were the only immobilier who wanted a month and a half’s rent. The others want one month’s.

I remember when I was looking for a place, the rental expenses, especially the deposit, caught me off guard too. Some landlords asked for an arm and a leg upfront, which is just not practical when you’re juggling moving costs. I ended up settling on a place that was slightly out of the city center via Grand Lyon Immobilier agency - might help 
I recently stumbled upon this article Maison en A : Construction durable et économique (GUIDE 2025) - and thinking of getting one and seeking now for a land near Lyon. Does anyone knows about this type of houses? As per my research they are quite cheap.
