On the windscreen/shield where it is supposed to be.

Looks pretty good to me - cleaner than ours, but then we have an Airedale dog, gravel drive and walk straight out onto ploughed fields
Not at all, this one is a mere beginner compared to the Mother of All Threads. ![]()
I suggest that you read the post again. There was no direct attack, just a question snd the reason why I asked! Certainly if you deem it an attact, I have read far worse here.
Just who is the ‘you’ are referring to here? Just a question.
I am trying to write this off as one of those ‘lost in translation’ or ‘two countries separated by a common language’ things, but I’m not getting there.
Tone is everything and “you” is fairly direct. Also I read that post in the context of your previous one which, to be fair, sounded bad tempered, not light hearted.
You are not serious?
Are you?
Obviously not from the above

Looks like the footwells after a major head-on. No subsequent CT required ![]()
Was it Greta Thunbergs car
Don’t know what all the fuss is about, I have been known to leave a Dobermann in the car while being tested. The only result was that the tester had to wash the other ear so that both matched each other.

What can go wrong with a CT… hmm…
Our regular guy was on holiday and his replacement had no idea about English cars, let alone an MG. (in immaculate condition!)
Failed it on “pollution” (or whatever they call it) I was flabbergasted ! and when I queried this and checked the car with him… I noticed the choke was fully out (aaargh) no way had I used the choke to drive there, so the guy must have fiddled with it.
anyway, he refused to redo the emission test with the choke “IN”… and sent me on my way with instructions to “get it sorted and come back for a retest”.
Huh.. my guy (the Boss) came back from holiday, heard my tale of woe, retested the car and found it perfect (of course).
We came to the strict agreement that whenever I had an “unusual/UK/whatever” car I would only use him (the Boss) to do the CT.
It’s worked well for 20+ years now he loves the cars we take in to his testing station… and we’ve become firm friends. ![]()
Socks with sandals? That is definitely a fail
They are not all the same. Some are pedantic whilst others are forgiving. I found it useful to ask around my French friends for recommendations as to who is most likely to be lenient for minor failings. One way or another having your car checked out is a good idea as it can prevent minor problems from developing into big ones without attention, Over the past 20 years or so I have found that by and large the Control Technique is not something to be feared, rather to be considered as helpful in pointing out failings and a good pointer to discourage garagistes from recommending unnecessary expensive work.
Agreed not a good look. Just a quick trot down the steet trying to be incognito. The rest of my outfit was also not up to standards.
Sure. It is a good thing not having to worry as much about my fellow motorists driving junk around, as I did in Florida where there are no CTs or MOTs of any sort.
My big problem is that I have no place to work on my own car. There is literally nothing on that car that I could not fix myself , save perhaps the electronics. And I actually have a garage, but even this small car does not fit, plus there is a bump in the floor of the garage that would make lifting the car dangerous.
I have reviewed the reviews of the CT places and I will shoot for one that seems to get good reviews for being kind and helpful.
Hence the thread then so people need to calm down a bit as you haven’t been through this type of thing in a while I am guessing?
My last rodeo was probably around 1975 when Florida completely did away with its ridiculous semi-annual inspections. I can’t recall if I did one in NYS in the early 80s because I had a new car at that time.

I have always used the Dekra testing stations and would recommend you check to see if one is near you.
if you prefer to shop around a little … this is another good link.
