Wonder whether this will effect Verstappen’s potential team move?

Great… Can’t stand the guy.

Hopefully Verstappen will stay at RBR now, meaning Russell won’t be kicked out of Mercedes.

I don’t think they would sack him because the team isn’t doing well. There have apparently been rumours about disagreements within the team since Mark Mateschitz took over the Red Bull company after his fathers death, and Helmut Marko has been very critical about what is happening within the team. It was an accident waiting to happen.

Agreed.
I also wonder whether Verstappen is having second thoughts about moving to Mercedes after seeing the difficulties that Hamilton has had in adapting to a new team.

There have been recent rumours that Horner was talking to Ferrari - be interesting to see whether this develops.

Unless he can persuade A Newey to join not much point, its the engineer not the mouth piece that makes tbe difference

True to a large extent - but it’s the team principal who decides who to hire, and whose job it is to motivate everyone and make sure they work together effectively. So being a numpty is a disadvantage in that role.

I find myself slightly puzzled by that - and he blamed “continued settling in” for his off podium finish on Sunday.

Now, on one hand I can see that the ability to take a F1 car to the edge of its ability to grip the track as you go round corners at ludicrous speeds time and time again needs everything to be right - the car, the driver, the weather, the track at the very least will contribute.

On the other hand this is one of the best F1 drivers of our time working for a team presumably willing to microscopically tweak the car to Louis’ desires.

Or maybe it’s just that aged 40 he’s the 2nd oldest driver on the circuit and had Covid badly - maybe, just maybe, there isn’t quite the edge he had when younger.

It would be good for him to get another championship though - given the controversy in 2021

At the cost to Hamilton I was happy to see Hulkenburg finally get a podium finish after so many years

Yes that was thoroughly deserved - it must be very frustrating to plug away for years in not fully competitive cars and watch others win stuff…

Bring back Rudolf Uhlenhaut. That’s when men were men and cars were cars :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

…and drivers (and spectators) often ended up dead.

Not that often  Though poor old Gilles Villeneuve was a sad loss.

I lost interest during the Schumacher (poor man) monopoly years.

He was an Eddie Jordan discovery. Eddie was a shrewd spotter of talent.

Wow, it’s blocked. I guess that’s part of this disgraceful project I heard about on the radio to hoover up old GP video and monitize.

F1 today is a rip off IMO, it’s all about money, not racing. This project wants to make the pre shister Ecclestone era a rip off too.

No it’s not. You can watch it on YouTube.
