When the fosse is emptied, do you pay on the day or does the company send the bill.

The person who empties my fosse is a āone man bandā so I pay by cheque and get a receipt on the day. It saves him having to do all the paperwork afterwards and the cost of a stamp for him and me.
Just make sure you get the receipt 
Itās a big vidange company around here, I will start writing the cheque and leave the money bit for the man to put in as Iām not good at writing numbers.
Do they have a web site ?
If they are local then ask for the bil, that gives you time to calmly write the cheque out and drop it in to them.

Yep, take your time with the chequeā¦ the only bit I leave blank is the ānameā when I am at the Surgeryā¦and that is for the Doctor, as he has his own āstampā.
Words and figures take timeā¦ but it is safer in the long run. It is no disgrace to have a go at writing the numbers on a piece of paper, to ensure it all is correctā¦ before writing on the cheque itself.
