Francoise Hardy R.I.P

Only last Friday… at the hairdressers… tous les garcons et les filles de mon age rang out from the radio… and we all sang along…

brought back memories of teenage years when I bought the disc… can’t recall what was on the B side though…

I believe it was the B-side.

And, doing a bit of research, I find that Jimmy Page played on the song.

well, that is the song I recall… and know by heart…
so now you’ve got me wondering what was on the A side ?

According to Wikipedia Tous les garçons et les filles - Wikipedia

J’suis d’accord

which is quite skiffle-y, so I could well believe Jimmy Page was involved in both songs.

I’ve got Je suis d’accord playing on YouTube… but have no recollection of that song…

Aha… it would seem that the B-side song actually topped the charts and embedded itself in my young brain … the other song (Je suis…) was a non-starter.

Not at all sure I’ve ever heard of her or either song TBH.

I’m not a fan of her yé-yé songs but Tous les garçons is quite memorable.

I prefer the later stuff: Music to lighten the mood - please add your own choices - #1751 by Porridge

The last album I bought by her was La pluie sans parapluie https://youtu.be/Gpm449cAM2w

She’s an institution in France. Comment te dire adieu, le temps de l’amour, mon amie la rose, il n’y a pas d’amour heureux etc etc etc instantly recognisable (and not just tous les garçons et les filles de mon âge).

she was marvellous… but, for me… that first song which touched my heart as a young girl… has stayed my favourite. How is it that I remember all the words, when I often can’t think what day it is…

and I’ve just been looking at another French pop idol from my crazy youth…
Johnny Hallyday…

Je te reverrai… another song I know by heart…

I’m fairly certain I bought his EP rather than a single… but I can’t remember any other songs from it… just this one…

What!!!

We had this playing at my friend 's 70th birthday on Saturday.
Love this song.

To quote Bing Crosby speaking to Frank Sinatra ‘you must be one of the newer fellas’.

Flabbergasted!!!

She was an absolute stunner in my eyes…

I really cannot believe that you had never heard of her…

Not my cup of tea being a heavy metal fan from around 14 years old and married to one,so she is not really my generation although I have heard of her, not her music as can’t stand all that. (Baby shark is what I currently sing along to with the littlies)

It’s possible I heard this song at some stage, but filed it under ‘not interesting’. Beautiful woman, nice voice, material that doesn’t connect for me. Listened to this + L’anamour - at 62 I’m probably 10 years too young, and was just 3 when it was released…

Thank you for your time on earth Francoise. Since Grand Prix, you were always the babe of motor racing!

apologies if some of these are doubles…
