Mr Gehry was a Canadian of extraordinary vision who never lost his humility. Still creating into his 90s, he leaves the world with buildings that show us walls and windows do not have to be flat and merely functional. Few like him. Rest now, Mr Gehry

We visited Bilbao soon after the Guggenheim opened. The real thing was even more impressive & captivating than the numerous reports had prepared us for.
This year we went to the Hockney 25 at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Again, the reality was so much better than pictures (the exhibition was great too!). Maybe not as impressive as the Guggenheim but the longer one was there the more fascinating it got. I like architecture that keeps growing on you that way.
He designed a brilliant little building in Dundee, A Maggie’s centre for cancer patients. Next to the Dundee main Hospital… well worth a look if you are in Scotland
