If by “pedantic” you mean “correct”, then yes. Try saying, in French, in
one syllable, “CPAM”, “EFS” etc.

I have just got the “Ordre du jour” for our next conseil municipal meeting.
Have got :
PNR (parc naturel regional)
CCAS ?
ACCA something to do with hunting
CIATE
ONF (finance)
FDAEC ?
ONAC (ancient combattants)

Looks like it might be fun

PNR – Parc Naturel Regional or Passenger Name Record (i.e. the list airlines use to check if you’re a terrorist!)
CCAS – Centre communal d’action sociale (CCAS)
ACCA – Association Communale de Chasse AgrĂ©Ă©e
CIATE – CommunautĂ© Intercommunale d’AmĂ©nagement du Territoire
ONF – Office National des ForĂȘts (Forestry Commission)
FDAEC – Fond DĂ©partemental d’aide Ă  l’Equipement des Communes)
ONAC – Office National des Anciens Combattants et Victimes de Guerre
