French-made cutlery

Continuing my campaign of avoiding Chinese-made goods, and looking for new cutlery, I’m struggling to find French-made cutlery (apart from LaguioLOL have you seen the price?).

Any recommendations? I’d happily have bone or wooden handles - and hand-wash them myself - but Madame prefers stainless steel, so that’s what it’ll be  – the problem then being that such a design is rather more style anglais than français.

How about some stainless steel cutlery made in Sheffield, if you want style anglais?

Laguiole’s knives are beautiful and worth the money. We were in their Rodez shop recently and saw some stunning sets of cutlery, but you can often get the basic stainless steel sets at half price or less online from http://www.showroomprive.com

Although there aren’t any on offer today, I suggest subscribing to their free daily newsletter and within a few weeks there should be a promo.

Also try googling ‘Laguiole de table promo’ eg - this same set is €79 on Vero’s link above

Fun fact… Apparently M.Degrenne started the business using steel recovered from the plentiful amount of abandoned armoured vehicles & weaponry here in Normandie post-war.

Thank you all very much. I shall have a happy afternoon browsing.

I believe there is a Guy DeGrenne factory sales outlet on the Southward side of the A20 just after Limoges. It’s nearly opposite a small shopping centre on the Northgoing side that had a Cora, a McDo, and a Picard as well as other shops.

Never stopped to check it but there might be info online.

few ideas here; Degrenne is a popular one i think.

It is actually at Pierre Buffière, when southbound, turn left at the Gendarmerie.
