French pensions for UK ex-pats 2

Currently there are reciprocal arrangements between the UK and various other countries, including EU member states. This applies to individuals who have worked abroad, paid state pension contributions in these countries and don’t have enough UK NI contributions for a full UK pension. The foreign pension contributions can be taken into account by the DWP to “top up” the individual’s UK contributions record.

Who knows what will happen though after Brexit (if it ever happens).
