I have said before here that, due to a bad experience with an Amazon 3rd party company, that I would never order from A again if the article was not sent by them.
As if to reinforce this determination I recently had to ignore it.
I wanted a wooden shed of specific dimensions and found the perfect one…in Lithuania. So I ordered it with trepidation and all was going fine. Direct contact with the manufacturer, fine, but they asked their transporter, Schenkers, to liase with me re delivery. This they did but with an SMS to which I could not respond (no number) and giving me a very long internet address, to which, even after extensive, careful and very difficult copying out, could not be found.
So I messaged the sender who said they instructed Schenkers to ensure that this method, email, was imperative. I thanked them and waited. 3 days later the precise same SMS message arrived from Schenkers giving me, yet again, the exact same link which did not work despite the minutely careful way I typed it out.
I had been thinking of a 2nd shed once this arrived for a different location and have made it very clear that this one is already in danger. So we shall see, meanwhile my shed is halfway across Europe, somewhere.
It won’t bring your garden shed any closer, but if it helps you feel a bit less lonely: one day, I ordered a washing machine – which I needed urgently – via an online platform. The delivery company gave me a date and a delivery slot. On the day, the delivery driver rang me to say he couldn’t find my address… he was near Bordeaux… I live in Normandy . There’d been a logistical error. I cancelled my order and found another washing machine elsewhere, which I received the next day .
It might not help my delivery but I enjoyed reading about it. I have a similar experience from some years ago, nothing to do with Amazon though.
I ordered a very small item, would fit in an envelope, from a company in California. It took one day to get from there to Frankfurt, then on via Nantes to Bordeaux. But from Bordeaux the item arrived in the Dordogne 3 days further on.
If I can work out how to do it, I will, but I am pretty sure, after 2 goes I copied it right, but you never know. Thank you, most kind, I’ll see what I can do.
A great big thank you Tory, can I calm down now, you multifingered smartphoners don’t realise how long it takes to tap out a message on just one thumb!!
Every one of your messages arrived when I was only half way through replying.
Between 1 and 6pm tomorrow, got it, and a big thank you.
Yes, yes, yes fevered brain, Thursday between 1pm and 6pm.
Let’s hope its not a bloody big artic who can’t get round the corners in the village, I’ll have the Berlingo and trailer ready to go out to him if need be.
Eddie, my goto techie guru, has just been round to sort out my You Tube Problem. I have so much going on at the moment that it took me a while to work out which he was here for, I thought it was to help with sending the laptop back via Mondial, shudders. something else involving a bloody smart phone
But no it was You Tube. He tried everything that I have and more and eventually declared it must be the TV. At about 5 years old it must be well past it use by date.
Why are kids only around when you don’t need them?
In the absence of kids, I recommend ChatGPT because each stage is discussed and talked through - what works, what doesn’t. Each time that gives ChatGPT more information and refines the options. And it never gets frustrated or impatient. And explanations are straightforward.
