Fuel pumps - markings to show inspection

How often are public fuel pumps in garages calibrated?

I filled at a supermarket garage today. Despite searching well I could not see any plates or stickers on the pump to show when it had last been checked for accuracy of delivery.

As far as I am aware… it’s done “regularly”…

Issuing something like this…
Red sticker means non-conforming, green sticker means OK… I think this is a general sticker for scales and whatever all weights and measures…

Having slept on this subject… this is how I understand what I was reading yesterday evening…

It’s down to the Owners to ensure the pumps are checked and attested to be accurate (within the accepted miniscule percentage etc … (there are specialist companies which undertake this “MOT” and issue the Yes/No which covers a period of time.)

Govt Weights & Measures folk will do spot checks… and there are large fines for any Owners who have pumps which are not accurate…

and an example of a Regional Govt check… from 2019:

Thank you Stella … I was a bit confused because a few years ago (at other pumps) I did see stickers, like the green pic. So not to see them now, on these pumps, made me wonder what the procedure is. Many many years ago, while still at school, I had a holiday job working as a pump attendant in my local town. And a guy from ‘Weights & Measures’ came, out-of-the-blue, and checked the pumps for accuracy.

So it is up to the owners to check for accuracy … I only used this supermarket yesterday because the price was 18c/litre cheaper than my usual go-to, TotalEnergie. So over €7 saved, + 15km closer that TE garage.

no idea if all the MOT companies use the Red/Green… that example came from Aqualeha… but it’s in the Owner’s interests to have the pumps regularly checked… 'cos if they wait for the Govt guys to come along… they could be in for a rather expensive slap on the wrist… and possibly worse …
