Not sure I’d have thanked you for the bigger of the parsnips, but the rest looks just wonderful!

Oh I’d take them any time. :slight_smile: Top and tail, peel, slice through vertically into quarters, remove core, slice the outer pieces into roughly one inch lengths, pop in water, bring to boil until flesh is soft, drain well and pop back on heat to dry out, mash, add salt, pepper, nutmeg, crème fraiche, mash until creamy, serve - delicious. I’ll be doing that to go with our slow roast shoulder of lamb tomorrow.

Shoulder of lamb’s my favourite, but very unfortunately my wife can’t digest lamb and the last time I had a half shoulder was what turned out to be my last meal with my mother - we both loved it and it’s a fond memory.

Most of them are fine, some with fibreux centres we quartered and cut out the woody bit.
@SuePJ no need to peel all that goodness off, just scrub with a scrubber or Scotch Brit.

Garlic already?? Lovely long white bits on your leeks. Mine are a bit short but the greens huge! Don’t know what I’ve done wrong

Garlic from last year, planted over 60 thinking to eat a bulb a week, now having to many, as will do this year planted 70… now have taught neighbours when and how to plant garlic they will have plenty too.
You have some good looking leaks there! I plant mine deep but depends on variety. Try planting deeper shouldn’t be a problem.

Last of last year’s leeks & succeeded this afternoon by haricot coco and fennel. First of this year’s lettuce and still picking those sown in September though many have gone to seed.

Well done! I just discovered all but 2 of my leeks gone to flower / bolted. Can we still eat them?

Oh and awesome news I’m going to clean the neighbours sheep house, 3x3 m with about 50cm I think of poop! Don’t think he’s done it in ages so hoping I can use the bottom layers straight away which should be all composted down already!

Also our terracing we have done has finally got dirt from where we are flattening for the pool! I thought I’d gave to buy some! Only thing I’m a little worried about is I put old sticks on the bottom which are still there, hope I can still plant if I have say 20cm of dirt?

There will be a wooden stalk in the middle. Remove that and eat what’s left.

@JaneJones thanks, I’ll do that with the leeks! What do you think about planting over sticks!?

That’s what I’ve done with my lasagne bed for pumpkins. They grow just fine. With 20cm soil then roots can find their way deeper if they wish.

Last year I got a pack of 6 heirloom tomatoes from Lidl and they did really well. Popped in today and they had them! Very pleased! There weren’t many left so if you want some go tomorrow!

I bought a cherry tomato plant about 10 days ago. Looked fine but was a bit dry. With water it has perked up however the leaves have discolouration. I will bin it rather than risk disease in the garden but not sure if its just from cool nights or something more sinister. Can anyone advise?

Some suggestions before throwing away:

Insects? Have you looked underneath the leaves?

Some mineral deficiency? Iron maybe? What are you using in way of fertiliser and source of water?

Wind damage? (less likely as tends to be just the edges)

Try removing infected leaves and see what new growth looks like.

If it hasn’t been hardened off it could be sunburn, just put it to one side away from the rest and see what happens
