My favourite pair of gardening trousers was bought from either Toolstation or Screwfix in the UK . They are hard wearing and have enough pockets to hold a few items.
They have proven to be way too heavy in the recent Deux Sèvres heatwave.
Can any gardeners out there recommend a brand of lightweight gardening/work pants suitable for summer wear. My partner wears walking pants for gardening and they are great, very lightweight, but they have zipped pockets which I can’t stand.
What a disappointing thread, I thought someone had bought trousers that do the gardening for them.
Nevertheless, I wish you well in your quest @Mike313
Lidl.fr do cheap pantalon de travail. Shorts de travail too. Lots of choice for men. All polyester and only some models have 25% cotton. Very comfortable.
39 euros free ship till Sunday - that would get you 2 or 3 pairs.
I have a pair of the Parkside work trousers and the material is lightweight, but not particularly breathable so Betty Swollocks is an issue in hotter weather, but a pair of moisture wicking shorts underneath will help out.
Loads of pockets and slotted pockets under the reinforced knees allow you to insert neoprene knee pads.
That’s why I go for the (ladies, but men’s exists) version with 25% cotton. The winter doublé - lined - ones were quite nice, heat less of an issue then. I think Lidl has some men’s working Bermuda shorts right now - so pockets etc but wider leg so more air circulation for Betty.
In my case, I was just looking for a lightweight hardwearing pair of pants to do the gardening in when it’s too hot for jeans or similar garb.
But the idea of having an outfit to go with the activity is not just a French thing ; here’s a couple of examples:
Even if they’re cr*p at golf or dancing or cycling the French participant will always be immaculately dressed. Followed closely by the Italians if it’s cycling
