Getting around new Youtube restriction on ad-blockers

Exactly, the stupid marketing dept of companies think they have hit the big time, the over paid lazy bar stewards. When in reality 99.9999999% of the ads on advert tube are completely of zero interest. Then there are the lying ones by the disgruntled miiltary personel who invented something that defy’s the laws of physics blah blah. There is no way I will pay one cent to have sh1t removed that I didnt want in the first place

The ads are how YouTubers get their revenue - no ads, no YouTube videos to watch.

Even then the revenue is not sufficient in many cases and they rely on donations, channel memberships and Patreon to make ends meet.

I pay for YouTube Premium because I do enjoy watching YouTube content (I hardly watch any conventional TV) so I am happy to help support the content producers. It’s not just about eliminating annoying ads.

So in essence Chris, real YT’ers are not paid enough and google trousers the money. So you pay a premium not to watch the ads but not enough of that revenue filters through to content makers. I support several YT’ers via patreon but as I said previously the ads are total crap so companies pay for the adverts, we pay not to see them the real content providers still get very little. Sounds fair

I don’t see any ads but I use ad blockers on the rare occasions I am forced to use.

May be google should pay artists more money for use of their music; they are the worst of the worst.

The better ones are Qobuz for streaming and Band Camp for purchase; Qobuz are French so you are supporting the economy.

No it’s not “fair” - we live in a capitalist society where big corporations make tons of money and most of the little guys don’t. Of course.

But (for me) paying the subscription means that the people who make the content I watch at least get some money, and I don’t have to sit through the ads.

YMMV.

Not many videos on Qobuz.

Where music is concerned I buy CDs or BluRay Audio discs. Streaming services are just as bad as YouTube when it comes to what they pay content creators.

I don’t watch videos with the exception of those I have no option to use to gather information about a company or product.

Still my point stands that may be google should pay more for content; it is not that they are poor and struggling; USD 348.16 billion in 2024.

Who gets the majority of the money from the streaming of the ads? The content owners?

On the CD aspect I have over 2000, gets difficult to move hence ripping to SSD and using streaming. New purchases I by as downloads from the artists site or Band Camp, often I pay more than it is available from Amazon; another company that I refuse to use.

Installed the Brave browser. Problem solved.
