Gisele Pelicot

By chance came across her interview on the Beeb yesterday. Still find it difficult to comprehend how she could be subject to so much abuse and remain totally unaware

I’m not sure what your point is here. Maybe she was being gaslit?

Sounds to me as if you have not sufficiently followed/understood the French News reports etc from 2024/25.

Drugged by a very evil husband who tried to cover his tracks. She trusted him and probably thought any infections etc might have been caused by him but was too afraid to say anything. Some French men are very mysogonistic and their wives put up with abuse etc, seen it happen with my neighbours where I live previously which ended up with the husband trying to kill them all via dousing in petrol but was caught out by his brother who informed the gendarmes and they came immediately. He got three years for it.

Sadly not unique to French husbands, I had a work colleague whose husband tried to kill her twice by burning down her (mobile) home.

Mme Pelicot answers the question from around 6:00 onwards in the BBC interview.

I think any more detail would require unacceptably intrusive questioning. The key evidence, it would seem, was the fact that she was obviously unconscious in the videos.

Yes, I watched the interview live on France 2 on Sunday, . She has been a beacon for French women, an incredible woman.

You may find it helpful to watch the interview that Caroline, Giséle’s daughter, gave to Oprah Winfrey - it’s on YouTube. She speaks in excellent English; and Oprah is as aghast as you are, Gus. In the second half an American lady who divorced her husband because of repeated, drugged rapes contributes to the discussion - and shows a clip from a video of her that her husband filmed of her while drugged. I think that will give you the comprehension you require.

Who is the woman with her? She doesn’t look massively comfortable

I think that’s Camilla.

The news programme introduced the topic with something like … Gisele Pelicot met “The Queen”, which I found profoundly confusing as, for me, there is only one “The Queen” and it certainly isn’t her.
