Bamboo toothbrushes are available, I believe.

Thanks! Haven’t seen them so will have a hunt round next time we need them.

You may have to get them on-line.

A new shop has opened in our town 25 kms away, its called ‘Tout en Vrac’ . They have a large stock of all sorts of items including, tea, coffee, honey, vinegar, cereals and lots, lots more such as cleaning products, wines et al. You take your own containers along, you weigh them empty and fix the weight on the container. Once you have filled it with whatever you then weigh it with the code of your product and the difference is deducted at the till.
They have a great range of apero crackers too and the prices are reasonable.
They don’t have loyalty cards as such but once you have given them your details (if you want) then each passage is credited to your account and after a certain sum you get a small refund.
They also stock bamboo toothrushes and bio toothcleaner on a stick !

We’ve been able to get just about everything with our own containers at local shops here for a while now, or at the market. I’ve learn to keep some containers/bags in the car as I’ll always forget to bring at least one. My mania is now extending to a baguette bag, so I don’t get given a square of paper every day with our bread. We’ve got our ordinary rubbish bin down to about a 10 or 15l bag a week, so now I’m challenging myself to reduce the recycling too.

(Apparently even Waitrose is doing this now! )

You can get bamboo toothbrushes in Intermarché now. I get mine in Germany (in Drogerie Markt) because they are cheaper (and as there are lots of us we get through about 2 dozen a year).

cutting down on plastic is something many of us are into.

Also, it is interesting to hear that possibilities are being investigated, whereby the existing mountains of plastic waste are recycled into other plastic products - some of which will be furniture and other home long-term items. Of course, the final end-of-life for such products will eventually arrive but, meanwhile, they can be used above ground rather than gather below (or in the oceans :dizzy_face:)

I am not advocating new-plastic :wink::upside_down_face:

I had exactly the same thought Stella.
Recycling plastic to make useful items.
I don’t know how many items you can recycle plastic, but it does make sense.
Our poolside loungers are made of sustainable wood, so they say.

No and I often wish my kids a happy BE-day and a happy BE-ing day instead …x :slight_smile:

I don’t ever aspire to be something I’m not and I’m not ‘religious’…

And what about the millions of pagans who suffered and died horribly during the conversion…???

I don’t neccessarily agree with all opinions on this particular website but this ‘timeline’ indicates how it started to get to so messed up…

@tim17 wants to see a picture of @Jane_Williamson’s gîte…

@Jane_Williamson has already and recently published a link to her website on SFN, because I’ve looked at it and read the comments her guests have made, which go back several years and suggest that her her gîte is extremely popular and well received, as is she and her husband as hosts.

Wrong Jane Peter.

Apologies to both Janes, Tim, and to you for my mistake. I did appreciate seeing Jane W’s hospitality offer and it does her credit, as I’m sure we shall both agree.

Thanks Peter.
Our next guests will be coming for the fourth time.
They normally stay for three weeks, but only two this time.

“When God made man . . . she was only practising”!

Our guests have just said that they would like to come back next year, as this the best gite they have ever stayed in.

I do hope you offer a loyalty scheme Jane :wink: Maybe a pretty little card with your picture on it, the odd ‘BOGOF’ offer - that sort of thing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes, but wasn’t it the first time they’d been to France?:grinning:

We obviously don’t need one.

No, they come every year.
