I saw Dame Edna at the Albert Hall in the eighties. ’Strine was rather exotic then. She held the entire hall enthralled. She called us “paupies” up in the gods and said she would look up directly in proportion to what we had paid. Everyone got a moderately fresh gladiola to take home. Happy times.

Humphries was a unique and extraordinarily funny man. I remember taking a girlfriend to see “Housewife Superstar” in London in 1976 (on our first date!) and the expression “we split our sides” was totally warranted - it was the funniest show I’ve ever seen (we needed the more subtle and less funny Sandy Stone segment to recover from Dame Edna and Sir Les).

He will be greatly missed - thankfully his genius will live on in video form…

this morning, we watched this with a smile …

Thanks John, had me in stitches, always a big big fan of Sir Les, less of EE because I wince (I said wince :rage:) at female impersonation, but yes a very funny man and I loved the way Aussies loved him too as his jokes were always at their expense. :joy:
