It is a euphemism for menstruation. Apparently the origin is after the battle of Water,oo in 1815 and refers to the occupying British soldiers red uniforms.
Perhaps not currently used, apart from our friends who are of a certain age.

Yes, I remember forty years ago a friend saying she had the les Anglais, meaning her period.

We had our Forum des Associations today andne of the people at our stall refererred to an expression “Viens dans ma camionnette” . I took it to be equivalent to “Come and see my etchings” but I’m probably wrong…
One odd English euphemism I used to hear was “It’s snowing down south” which meant one’s underskirt was showing.
