Heart felt request from a survivor. Please read

Hi everyone,

This is a first, although I do aways love reading everyone else's blogs. However, something very important for me has come up. My first child, Malcolm, who is now 27 years old, was born with a very serious congenital heart malformation. As a newcomer to France, and with still very poor French, you can imagine how difficut it was. In the mid eighties in France, although the medical techniques were advanced (this was confirmed when I went back to the UK for a second opinion on his rather complicated case), unfortunately, the humane side left a lot to be desired. They hospitalised him soon after the birth, and I was allowed access to him for only 3 hours a day .. difficult to imagine nowadays! It was difficult surviving as a young mum, especially in the days when we still communicated with our family and friends back home with written letters! My second child arrived 18 mnths later, and in that same year their father left us, which seemingly often happens in such circustances (the fact that his work colleague was pregnant with his baby at the same time, while I was juggling between work, and the hospital was perhaps also within the equation!). 'Bon', unhappiness is relative when your child is struggling for his little life! However, after many palliative operations throughout his childhood, and young adulthood he always managed to pull through, and is soldiering on. I always said he was my wee kitten with 9 lives. Ok, I'm coming to the point, and to cut, what could be a long story, short, here goes.

Music became a very essential part of his life, and he created a band a few years back, with a few of his friends, which he named 'Metro Lutece'. Malcolm plays the piano, accordeon, guitar and sings (which is also a particularity 'chez lui' due to the fact that during one of his big ops. the surgeon managed to (obviously accidentally) section the nerve to one of his vocal cords paralysing it for good! .. otherwise he got through the op. so it's difficult to complain about minor incidents as such!)

Anyway, the point is that they have been selected for the final in 'La Grande Battle' on France2, and we need as many votes as possible ! By the by, Malcolm writes all the music, and most of the lyrics to their songs.

Please, please take the time to vote for Malcolm's group Metro Lutèce in order to be selected for the TV show.

dear Margaret - no mean feat to turn Mozart tunes into new catchy music which is far from some of today's pop cliches. Love the name too - Lutece being the old name for Paris. Got my vote.
