Heat pump and solar water heating - understanding devis

I wonder if there is anybody kind enough to cast an eye over the devis I have received for the installation of a heat pump and solar water heater?

Before I sign it I need to confirm that the total cost is covered by the various grants avaliable, and I won’t be committing myself to expenses that I couldn’t afford.

The man I spoke to on the phone assured me that there would be no charge to me, and has sent the two devis. It looks to my Covid-ridden eye to be in order, but I’d be so grateful if somebody could check it for me.

When you do post the quote, do make sure that you describe how high and ease of access to the roof, access from the roof to where the tank will be, also access for the heat pump - I assume air source - location, pipework and extra electrical work. These are the factors that bump up quotations…

I do know that folk in our commune have been urged to get their dossiers put into the Govt… to obtain confirmation of Grant status … and the amount… and when it will be received from the Govt Agencies… before signing anything with Salesfolk.

Remember, even if Grants are confirmed… need to identify if one has to “pay the Company and get the Grant later” which can cause financial difficulty.

Be interesting to see your Quote…

Thank you.

I hadn’t considered any of those factors, and until somebody actually visits the property to study the viability of the project I won’t go any further.

The devis all look genuine, MaPrimeRenov have confirmed the grant, the supplier is RGE registered, but nobody has actually come to see the house …

If you look at the website

This states that you should create an account on the MaPrimeRénov’ website, send quotes from the approved installer along with other documents, and then await approval before committing to any work. I think this is how you should proceed. A grant I received under an earlier scheme was paid back to me in tranches over 5 years. I think MaPrimeRénov’ is paid all at once, but the website doesn’t make it clear, so you need to check this.

I will update when I know more.

I know that we qualify for the financial aid, but I’m not at all sure if our house is suitable, so I’m waiting for somebody to contact me to arrange a visit.

I’m very interested that the grants will cover most of it, or have I misunderstood?

Yes, that is my understanding. I do know people who have had the heat pump and solar water heater installed for a nominal 1 euro. It’s based on income.

I’m not too sure about the solar water heaters, as friends have had a nightmare with them not working and leaving them without hot water for weeks.

I’ve noticed that certain Offers mention “UP TO xyz€”…
so one doesn’t necessarily get the full xyz€…
and also, some Offers mention up to xyz€ “for Installation”… again, not only NOT the full amount, but they don’t mention the cost of the actual Purchase… which is EXTRA in certain cases… (mentioned in small print).

The Offers can be confusing, especially for older folk and I know some in our commune who have very nearly been caught out.

If asked, our Mairie works closely with its citizens, so that things can be done correctly.

In the main, I advise caution … be very sure one understands exactly what is being proposed…

Yes, the people we bought this house from had a solar water heater. They were very disappointed that the sun didn’t shine sometimes, and that meant they didn’t have hot water. They removed it, in disgust. Some people hey :open_mouth:

This one was installed during the heat of summer. It wasn’t a problem of sun, it was the way the installers fitted the system, so that no water came from anywhere! I don’t remember all the details, but there was a problem that meant the water tank didn’t fill, or wouldn’t empty, something like that!

Exactly, your comment should directed as useless fitters and not about a technology which is very good and if evacuated solar tubes as apposed to flat panel types can generate plenty of hot water in antarctica.
