Hello..bonjour!

My husband and I (and pets) are making a permanent live from the US to Nice France in September. I’m new to this site and I’m becoming familiar with all the different topics.

As of June 17th we can set our appointements with TLS, airline tickets are purchased, and we’ve hired an agent to help us secure an apartment.

We (currently) live in Oklahoma but I am originally from NY (not the husband - he’s from OK) but we’ve lives in OH, TX and FL.

Soon I’ll be looking for Physician Specialists in the Nice area, so I’m hopeful I can get a few great recommendations.

Nice to meet you all virtually!
Charlene and Jim Gibson

Welcome. Have you checked the existing US States your driving licences are from, are accepted for exchange in France? If not then you have a much, much harder path to driving once here. Some people may be in a situation to find an easier solution before they arrive to live here if their State’s licenses aren’t accepted for exchange by France, some not.

Good question! Actually OK and France have a reciprol agreement with that so we just need to get our duplicate from the DOT here.

Welcome, and thank you for introducing yourselves. All the very best over the coming months. As you may have gathered already reading this site, you are far from alone in choosing to move from the US to France, which is useful as some of your issues may be country specific and the Brits on here will be only too happy to give you advice but your fellow-countrymen and women may be more useful.

Worth mentioning as not every US State has an agreement with France whereas other countries mostly have an agreement that covers licences issued in their whole country.
