Hi i am new on here and i am currently going through a house purchase near Bellac. due to do the signing today. i am from and live in Burnley Lancashire. Dave.
Welcome! There are a few of us on here who know Bellac well so can perhaps assist with any questions or issues you may have about local things as well as bigger stuff!
I hope your name is Dave Hill with that handle.
I know nothing about Bellac, but welcome to the forum.
ha ha no but well done for knowing where i got my handle from mate.
thank you, bit scary at the mo with the house going through and not really knowing if or when it will be completed, just a case of fingers crossed at the moment, Dave.
Welcome, @superyob .
I don’t know anything about Bellac either, but I do know that the pubs of Burnley used to account for much of the export of Benedictine from Fécamp.
yes you are correct, i believe Burnley folk drink more benedictine than anywhere else per head of population (for some reason)
particularly at the plumb street miners.
It’s ok, I’m sure many of us do.
Welcome superyob.
Welcome Superyob. Great username btw.
Will be interested to know how you find the climate in Bellac when you start spending time here.
Take a look round the forum - there’s a lot of expertise on all sorts of things here.
Hi Karen, i have had Bellac on my weather app for some time so i do know something about the weather/temps etc in the area and i think i can say it is a bit warmer than here and less rain. i cannot wait to experience it for longer periods than a week or so ![]()
. Dave.
Hiya!
Hi Mikeypotts.
Welcome to the group. Don’t get put off if someone has a bad day and you don’t care for the response, it happens sometimes and new members can get upset but we are an alright group with a lot of experience of French living. I moved south near the Spanish Med border in 2022 after 30 years full time in Brittany so quite a long way from Bellac down here in Perpignan area.
We have family members in Bellac. It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter being in the Limousin. If you have not yet watched the film Etre et Avoir I suggest that you do. Fascinating film. Hopefully you won’t experience the extreme winter snow that used to be the norm!
Welcome to Charente. We are 40km from Bellac. It’s been a HOT dry summer, hardly any rain. If you like sunshine and heat, you are in the right place.
It does get cold in the Winter, but that depends on your location. Microclimate can make it warmer/colder with in 5km. We had snow ONCE last winter. Very pretty but did not last more that a day.
Goodl uck with your purchase & see you around on SF
Hiya and thanks, we had snow once in Burnley last winter too and it lasted about 2/3 days then nothing, the (winters) seem to be turning into autumn these days although i did lose all my dahlias to one night of frost (gutted). i must remember to bring them indoors if i grow any more in the future.
thank you i shall certainly watch that and maybe bring my sledge over when i move ![]()
Hiya, i do not get put off easily
and moving all that way must have been a bit of a shock, from wet and windy to hot and dry although that weather seems to be the norm these days.
Yes it gets upto 40°C in the summer a lot but my family live ten mins away so I can see the grandchildren as it would have only been twice a year had I stayed up in Brittany. Air con is my life saver here and I have had to put it back on since last week again as its got hot again.
