Hello! I’ve been a member for a while, but been lurking in the background waiting for the right time to introduce myself.
I had been hoping to move to France this spring and am currently in Arles, looking for my first rental property and getting nowhere…not even a reply 
Anyway, I’m originally from London [Westminster] and decided to quit work early and enjoy the good life.
I’ll go to the specific sections for my rental and visa questions, but in the meantime I’m glad I found this group.

How are you looking? As email is generally useless unless you have made contact before. Prepare a dossier, phone and then send the dossier afterwards, preferably to specific person.
We found like @JaneJones : only rarely do the French do emails/WhatsApp etc, and certainly not as a first contact.
Work out what part(s) of Arles you want to live in, then drop in to some estate agents and see what you think of them.
Work up a list of questions, including one about what they want from a potential tenant, and translate it into French.
Don’t forget to say “Bonjour” as you walk in!
