Help! Have I been swindled buying a used french car?!

Well of course Tim is - he pays you some dosh to advertise his illiterate services! Of course you will support his "playing nice". DUH!

OK, expecting to get banned any minute soon - nw - my "gang" know how to contact me and others for real and genuine, literate (French and English) advice - which doesn't come with a price tag - & it's 24/7, not restricted to some arbitrary "open" hours.

Fact

Fine; given I live on my own, d'you want to come take a photo, 'cos up 'til now I haven't been able to train my cats or dogs to press the relevant button on my mobile phone to capture an image - or can you advise me how to train said quadrupeds to do so?

* Do you want to offer a professional service, Tim, or just prove you can't even do it in your Mother Tongue?*

I think that comes across as rude. As would most other SFN ers.

Hi Hilary. I see you haven't uploaded a profile photo yet. If you need any help with thisk please don't hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help.

Not making comment about posts; made comment about a website touted on here as being able to solve things.

's not rude; is a fact

I would ask Anthony, Hilary and everyone else, as I have asked before, to please NOT criticise other people's spelling and grammar - some people suffer from dyslexia and other related difficulties. So pleaes thinnk before you reply.

And Tim is :)

Failing that - just play nice.

Hear hear. Or Here here.

Please do not be so rude, and adhere to our T&C.

Hello James,

If the Certificat de Cession was in the same name as the owner on the Carte Grise, and the Certificat de non-gage likewise, then on the face of it there should not be a problem. There can be a difference in France however between the keeper of a vehicle and the owner. Possibility; the vehicle was leased to the company through the "XXX" company who remained the "owners". That would explain the clean HPI check.

Anyway, I hope you sort it out OK.

Tim

Thank you Tim, I will bear it in mind, I have looked through your website and it looks like you offer a service which could be very useful to some. I will keep on investigating and let you know.

James

Hello everyone

Thank you to all that have taken the time to read and answer.

Thanks Patrick, this is the site i used origionaly to find out if there was anything outstanding, debt or otherwise on the vehicle. the response i received was this,

"La situation administrative du véhicule ne fait apparaître aucune particularité : absence de gage et d'opposition"

which i would loosely translate as this;

"The administrative status of the vehicle shows no peculiarity no guarantee and opposition"

Thus I went ahead with the transaction.

I will contact the finance company directly and see what they have to say, surely if there is no debt outstanding I should be able to have the paperwork transferred legally into my name, non?

watch this space

James

That is a very useful website - thank you

Hello James and everyone,

First let me say that I am French and my english is far from being perfect. But, I will give it a try!. If I had an advice to give James, it will be to request a "Certificat de non gage" from the "Préfecture of Haute Savoie". It is free and you can do that through the Internet. The information entered must be exactly the same as the one on the "Carte Grise"

https://siv.interieur.gouv.fr/map-usg-ui/do/accueil_certificat

I hope this help.

Patrick

Have just looked at a few more of the pages - riddled, but riddled with errors.

Ooops - ignore the btw comment: was a mark on my screen that made the "u" look like an "o". My abject apologies.

There are at least two other errors on that page (the initial page - haven't checked the rest); my professional services as Editor/Proofreader retail at 50Euros per page. Do you want to offer a professional service, Tim, or just prove you can't even do it in your Mother Tongue?

btw, one doesn't normally "toot" for business (even on a Sunday); one would normally "tout". (That correction's for free!)
