Help needed in our Garden

Hi - not sure if this is the right place to post, but we are looking for somebody to help us with the general maintenance, weeding, pruning etc of our garden. We live near Sarlat, close to Château des Milandes.
Does anyone know of anybody who could help please?

Ask one of the local companies or agencies who do aide à domicile, as some gardening is categorised as service à la personne (which means you get 50% credit impôt). Or look at notices in newsagents and bakers for people who are CESU registered.

or visit the Château itself and talk to some of the gardeners there who may be looking for some extra income…

If they are salaried then very unlikely that they will have the capacity (France has workimg hours directives).

Hi,
Look in your local news paper or free magazines, you’ll probably find many people looking for work doing this type of work under the CESU. Or pop into a couple of your local bars and ask, there’s probably some old boy retired, well recommended and looking to supplement his pension if you pay in cash.

My friend used to get people come and do jobs for her like gardening, cutting wood, cleaning windows etc from a local association who helped foreigners integrate locally and also young people who have no qualifications to find some work. Ask at the local mairie if there is such a group inyour area or as mentioned, some old boys like to keep their hand in for beer/cigarette/petrol money. I worked CESU looking after a holiday home for five years plus and the owners got a tax reduction, I got money and pension rights!

Attention Attention ,the promotion of working for cash in hand is is an offence on this site !!!

You are quite right. If they catch you the payer , you are in trouble not the worker. My late friend was a registered electrician, it did not stop a jealous French man trying to shop him as he got all the local English work. and he got very little.
With the CESU scheme you get 50% back so why risk it?
