I thought it would be useful to start a list of helpful tips specific to doing business in France where we can help each other out and hopefully save some time!
To kick it off, I was searching for a way to download a CSV file into excel which conserved all the accents (otherwise the address data would be pretty much useless) and found this great blog post which makes it all very easy:

I found this when needing to sort out my TVA - it’s actually for VAT in the UK but you can change the numbers/percentages so it works for French TVA too: http://www.crazysquirrel.com/finance/vat-calculator.jspx
