Homeware stores

Such a shame i love ikea i got so many things from the uk store but if its disappointing here i wont bother going in

Itā€™s not disappointing. The stores offer standard products everywhere - if you love Ikea in the UK you will love it here.

Nearest is Montpellier for IKEA although there is a depot in Cabestany where you can order online and collect from. Family went to IKEA back in the summer and were very disappointed.

The Range is owned by Chris Dawson who recently bought Wilko and Homebase. Maisons du Monde is a French publicly traded retail group. Iā€™m not aware of any crossover but I donā€™t pretend to be an expert on these things, perhaps CDS bought a tonne of MduM shares? Chris famously has a Rolls Royce with the number plate DE11 BOY which always makes me chuckle though. :joy:

I hate the fastenings on French duvet sets. They are usually a flap of extra fabric which is supposed to tuck in, but invariably hangs down below the end of the bed, or there is no fastening at all. Give me press studs or zips on UK bedding every time!

All my covers are french bought (30+years here so no english stuff) and not one of them have the flap you mention. All have either plastic popper studs or holes with buttons to go through. Never seen any with flap ending at family either.

I have flap ones and button ones and popper ones. I also seem to have about 5 different types of pillow (shape and size), most irritating. You either tuck the flap inside the cover or tuck it under the mattress.

Where were they bought? I must have been shopping in the wrong place!

We bought some from Jysk last year with buttons. Also bought some recently from Carrefour with buttons. Iā€™ve only ever seen the flap ones at Ikea. I agree with @vero about pillows and pillow cases, why so many sizes and shapes ?

All over the place - IKEA, LeClerc, Lidl and Super U to name a few. I donā€™t like those flaps, look untidy and donā€™t tuck the end of the duvet under the mattress as it has no bed end now I have a smaller bed, the king size was OK as had wooden ends you could tuck under.

Thanks everyone for all the different shops as some I hadnā€™t heard of.
If you are buying sheets or mattress covers check out the sizes carefully. I have found for example that King size is different according to where you buy it. Even Ikea which used to have the scandinavian measurements now has different sizes in the Uk.

I remember watching this show where he was interviewed by Peter Jones a few years ago nowā€¦ You can see why heā€™d like that number plate after seeing the bit with him talking to his customers

Heā€™s a self-made billionaire so good on him.

I only ever use actual measurements in cm, names eg king size mean nothing to me.
My bed is 200cm x 200cm and that makes things nice and simple.

Iā€™ve got a couple of duvet covers that donā€™t close properly and bought a press-stud kit, with 400 studs and an installation tool, to sort the problem. Another project for the list!
