Homeware stores

Good morning all, can anyone recommend a good home ware store which does most things? We love leroy merlin for our DIY and big things. Were now looking for duvets and interiors. (Something affordable) like a home sense or wilko back in England
Thank you

Large supermarkets like Leclerc do good duvets etc. In fact now is a good time to be buying as they are all running “whites” sales.
Depends what you mean by “interiors” - does that include furniture? Or just furnishings?
Ikea is always worth a look, may mean a day trip out as they are only to be found near large towns. These days they also do stuff online.

I furnished our cottage/gite on Ikea stuff and second hand furniture from trocs/brocantes. For small stuff / knicknacks etc I love our local Centrakor, but it is pretty special (some are very sad but our local franchisee has a very good eye for dressing his store and showcasing their products - small quirky occasional tables, rugs, huge clocks, etc etc )

We have some lovely duvet covers from Leclerc.

Madame likes Centrakor, too, though it’s a bit hit and miss.

(must confess homeware is a new word for me  )

But I reckon Conforama and But are two other places to checkout…
In fact if one visits an “out of town” shopping complex there’s usually a wide selection of stores :+1:

Well I love CentraKor too, its a huge store here in the commercial centre. BUT have come a bit upmarket since the 90’s, IKEA now disappointing to be honest. I found some nice things in Carrefour and Auchan and ocassionally LeClerc. Maison du Monde I found not that good quality and expensive.

There’s a little shop round here - don’t know how big the chain is - called Casa that has some super homeware stuff - cushion covers, gorgeous crockery and the like.

CASA yes forgot that one, big chain of stores all over France. Used to go to one years ago for kitchen ware.

Apart from the other stores already mentioned in the previous replies, there’s also Gifi for a range of home furnishings, not all of them made from plastic (although this does seem to be a shop that is generally full of plastic items). Usually found in any half-decent out of town “centre commercial”.

Highly recommend the quality of bedding in Action and way cheaper than anywhere else !

Action do quite good pillows and duvets as well as home and kitchen bits. Worth a look first as much cheaper than anywhere else if you find what you need there.

I’ve never been in one in France or the UK, but B&M exist here if you know them back home.

I’ve been to B&M in the UK and went once whilst in Limoges. It’s very much like every other discount store - dirt cheap and dubious quality, which can be fine depending upon what you’re buying. Was hoping that the French one would stock more British food products (chocolate, snacks, etc…)… alas, I was disappointed.

Personally I prefer Action to B&M… we get some good cleaning products from there and the branded dishwasher tablets are cheap, and they sell these nice wafer biscuits called Knobbers or Knockers or something like that

Talking of Gifi, seems it is in dire financial trouble apparently and may not exist for much longer unless a buyer is found. I read somewhere that B&M, Action and (I think) Stokomani wanted to buy them. There’s enough Actions already, but it could be interesting if B&M buys Gifi.

No surprised. Centrakor were sensible and have moved upmarket and have some lovely stuff, Gifi in recent years has raced for the bottom - our local one is now vey sad and very empty. Action has taken their business.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Pepco, the owner of Poundland in the UK are looking at it as a way to enter France if so, it seems to have paid off for B&M buying and rebranding Babou.

Alinéa, if there’s one near you.

My nearest city is perpignan and since i saw all your recommendations i already went on my spree yesterday and found some really good bargains. Pleasantly suprised those stores exist because i was spending all my money in leroy merlin. Good advice, thank you everyone

Did you go to Claira? You seem to be in my neck of the woods.

Maisons Du Monde is part of same group as The Range in the U.K.

There’s always Conforama for homewares, furniture and electrical appliances.
