House boat on the midi?

Hi Guys,


Loving your website and discussions. We lived in Province 10 years ago and are currently in South Africa but hope to retire to France once the kids have finished their education!


I was hoping with the wealth of experiences here that I could ask some advice?


We are a family of 5 (kids currently 14, 12 and 8, all boys) and are coming over for a holiday this year, the last week of Sept. We would very much like to do a short house boat trip on the midi/camargue area.


We are thinking of 4/5 days and would love some input as to companies/routes, places to see and places to avoid!

We were looking at hiring a self drive boat (like a caravan except on the water), my husband has a skippers ticket. It seemed like affordable accomodation for a family of five and we can explore local villages and markets and eat at our leisure. The last link looks promising...thank you.
