How many bottles shall I put you down for?

Château Le Gravy is about 3km from where we live!!! I drive past it most days.

Wine at this price stops being ‘wine as we know it’ and becomes like bullion or stocks. Just another investment.

I’ve always said, a good bottle of wine is one that tastes good to you, regardless of the price.

That first obe takes me back. Much later thsn 1944, probably 1984 or so, I distinctly remember stopping at Ropiteau Frères vineyard to taste wine there on one of my winetasting trips driving round Burgundy. The wine was one of the best which is probably why I renember it.

We’ve visited some glorious Chateaux and wine-tasted some glorious offerings.

I was told to “spit it out” before tasting the next .. always seemed a terrible waste if I liked the taste… so I swallowed instead. This could explain why most afternoons, on the trip back to home/wherever… I would either be slumbering or singing…

We would actually buy wines very, very cheaply, the ones which needed at least a few years to mature.

One 1988 wine was “bought for pennies” and finally enjoyed in 2018 (after we found it by chance in our cave). Absolute nectar !

Do you yell, "Rozbif! Rozbif! Bangers 'n mash! " as you pass?

I recall having a trundle round the salt marshes area of Kent. Lamb from the salt marsh grazing is said to be particullarly yummy. As we passed fields with lambs grazing I yelled out the window, “Mint sauce! Mint sauce!”

My g/f was a veggie :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Interesting place for a guided tour as well !!! :+1: been there, done that.. and tasted/tested the wine hic hic..

You can do that with pigs as well, although it has to be “apple sauce!”

Ducks and plum sauce would probably work too though I haven’t tried that.

I stopped drinking in 2019, but still love to go tasting. Since I am the driver, that’s worked out well for us. I’ve tasted and spit from Argentina to new Zealand.

Six bottles required here, with a fair wind that should take us through to the luncheon interval  .

Columbophiles may enjoy this episode which is online to watch.
