How many days can I leave France per year

Hi I’m going to apply citizenship par decret after 3 years, I want to know how many days can I leave France in the total of five years? I have asked three lawyers, one told me three months one told me two months and one told me six months per year. Thanks

I think it depends on what sort of Titre de Sejour you have. The WARP card seems to have different criteria from others.

I’m curious how you would evaluate the validity of further replies, given the responses you’ve obtained so far. And I am surprised that any immigration lawyer would give you an answer in the format you have indicated.

However, for what it’s worth, here is an AI response. If I were you, I’d use it to suggest official sources of information.

I’m not an immigration lawyer, but as you already have 3 different answers from three different (and presumably immigration specialist) lawyers, what are the chances that we, as in, the regular contributors, none of whom are specialist immigration lawyers, be able to provide a correct response ? I’m not trying to be flippant, but the statistical probability of someone on here being in exactly the same circumstances as you (such as you have them, i.e. without detail) seems to me to be approaching zero.

If you are applying after 3 years I assume that you have completed M1+M2 masters to qualify for shorter residency?

There is nothing written at all in the Codes about time outside France in terms of naturalisation so slightly curious that you have received definitive answers! The most commonly stated rule of thumb is that it may be the same as for a 10 year card, so a maximum of 6 months in one year and 10 months in total. However immigration agents have leeway in how they assess your ties to France in terms of living here permanently. Your dossier is looked at in the round so if there are issues elsewhere they may be stricter on time away, and vice-versa.

Gaining French nationality by dècret is a gift, not a right, so not a complete tick box exercise.
