Hello
My wife and I purchased a house in the alps last year knowing there was no electricity and that the closest connection was 3km away. Because of this we decided before purchasing that we would buy solar panels and live off grid.
Now 12 months on and we are fighting in the french courts with the company who made the installation over their poor workmanship (thats a discution for another day) and we have been wondering at what point does it become a legal requirement for the mairie to have electricity installed for the residents?
We know we could pay to have the electricity installed ourselves but this would allow the other residents to hook up virtually free of charge (compared to the cost of installing the complete line ourselves.
This is more of a curiosity as we have been told that the mairie refused installation after ww2 when there were approximately 10-15 habitable houses and edf havent offered since.
Thanks in advance for any information anyone can give.
Rick
