We have a rdv for an MRI on Friday and the clinic has sent a code asking us to confirm or cancel:

What am I supposed to do with that, there is no simple answer to the sms available?

Why not ask you neighbour about this… not everyone has smartphones (I don’t) so there will be another way…
That’s a website address @david_spardo . Type it into a computer!
(Thats what I do when someone has sent me a picture by phone…)
You do NOT need a smartphone for that…
PS - I think you may have mistyped it, so be very careful to copy it exactly…
@David_Spardo
where is the Appointment… can you phone them direct ???
That’s a good idea. Alternatively, if you have a logon to their site, you can use that
First thing I did was type it into the computer but it came back ‘unknown’, I don’t think I mistyped but I’ll try again. It is for Fran’s MRI scan at Clinique Francheville in Perigueux. I could look up their phone number but the thought of being passed through several hands to find the right place with my bete noire (talking and hearing French on the telephone) fills me with horror.
Re the ‘bete noire’, it may be my hearing and I have another rdv in July to check that out, so I suppose I’ll have to go through the whole performance again. What’s wrong with sending a simple reply? Too easy.
Time for Marie-Paule again, she owes me one after I got trapped into a mothers’ meeting outside the supermarket yesterday with an old female friend. Our friend hardly paused for breath and we were gasping when we finally got away.
Edit: Checked link correct but incorrect, forwarded to M-P who is going to sort it.
That’s the first time I’ve known one of those links not to work, David. Very worrying, I must say…
No reason not to seek help from your Mairie… it’s what they do!
Thanks all, M-P did what Stella suggested, found and rang the number and confirmed it that way. I am not sure that ‘link’ is a link at all, seems more like a once only code once you have got to where they want you to get to.
But why all this subterfuge, secrecy and confusion when a simple reply to a text would suffice?
What do people like Fran do if they are alone, no phone or computer savvy? This is really a question for the large thread about old people in France, in which that very question was asked and, although it turned into a concentration on Fran’s problems, nevertheless did provide much in the way of answers to the OP.
Trying to contact IRM, scanner at Francheville clinic is nigh on impossible, as I found out over the last few months! My IRM confirmation letter gave a number to phone, thankfully, main hospital.
The link sent to you looks like a bitly link, and I think it should start with bit rather than b. Someone has possibly copied it wrong when sent to you. There is a server at bit.hcnx.eu, but the link you gave on that server now doesn’t exist. That’s not unusual as bitly links can be made to time out and disappear after a predetermined time.
A bit soon to time out, I tried it within 1 minute of receiving the text to connect via the computer and it didn’t work. Anyway, all sorted now, M-P somehow very quickly found a number to ring and confirmed the rdv on our behalf.
Our local surgery has started sending texts reminding of rdvs booked, but without requiring a confirmation, and they too cannot be replied to. No email address either, so the results of Fran’s blood tests, which I couldn’t get hold of because I couldn’t access her lab account but were rung by the coordinator who came on Friday, have now to be sent to the surgery, by post or by hand.
It seems to me that, in the modern mania for privacy the system has not yet found a way to join all the dots.
@Lily, you are lucky, at least there is a massive amount of free parking adjacent to the hospital, unlike Francheville. I do not like underground car parks because I am unwilling to leave the dog in the car there. He is perfectly calm as long as strong sun isn’t on him with windows open and settles down quietly till we return.
@David_Spardo, please remind me the time of Frans’ RDV.
It’s 1015 Lily, but I will be circling to find a parking spot soon after 9. Rather be an hour early then 5 minutes late. I’ll drop her off with the wheelchair first at IRM 1 and then go and park the car, last time it was a 10 minute walk back. Fortunately, with a wheelchair in evidence it is allowed to stop and block the street if necessary.
Do you still have my mobile number? If you are around perhaps we could have a coffee somewhere afterwards. There is a small cafe nearby I think, but even Auchan at Marsac is not far off our route home. Also in the small shopping area opposite the Leclerc fuel pumps.
David I can’t find your number, can you send again.
I will come and help with Fran tomorrow, arrange over phone.
If lucky maybe get the drop off space
Are you also planning to check out the dentist?
Will do the same David, if we find one place I can then put my car in the car park
I’ll send you my number and, if you reply with a text I’ll have yours too. IRM 1 is the 3rd entrance down bvd, Versone at the side of the Clinique. I will drop her off there and then go looking for a space.
To be honest, completley forgot about the dentist so maybe I could call in and check it out on the way back, though the coordinator of the health servcies says there is a visiting dentist locally and the one I last saw in Nontron is again back in business.
