Hello everyone - I’m planning a new bathroom in our apartment and like the look of Hudson Reed and see that others on here have recommended it too - just wondered if anyone knows where in France sells or showrooms their products or is it purely all online? Many thanks Becks

Merci! guess i can try to view in UK then
- so if they’re UK products will be they be compatible for French plumbing…?
Yes in most cases as threaded parts use BSP a std pipe thread. Only issue can be waste pipes as UK sizes are slightly different to french but there are usually adapters available or other ways around it.
Becks - I buy from France. It’s sometimes a little bit more expensive but there will be no compatbility issues. Hudson Reed’s stuff sold online in France will have no issues with compatability and if you can go see their stock, you should be able to order it online in France.
If your prefer to order from a French supplier - I use these:
https://www.livea.fr/ - Very very good reputation.
https://www.sanitino.fr/ - as Livea.
https://www.maxaro.be/ - if you are in north France, a trip to a Maxaro shop in Belg or NL is worthwhile. I think Maxaro Belg deliver to France.
In general, I think that the Hudson Reed stock is ok and it depends on your budget e.g. - I am about to buy a new freestanding bath ( Baignoire îlot) but it needs to be min 180 long and 80 wide. Most of the stock in UK and France is for shorties and/or for small bathrooms to difficult to source. I also look at the weight of the bath without water and I see that the cheaper bath tubs are so light (40kg) that a small dog could move it if bumped into. These cost around the 800 Euro mark and tend to be un-branded and ‘d.i.y’ quality (like B&Q and Brico stuff here). Then if you compare with say Ideal Standard, same size etc, the weight of the tub is aroun 55 kg, double skinned and with proper legs to fix to the floor. Ok - the cost is double but even @David_Spardo rotties couldn’t move them.
So - you get what you pay for, much depends on how deep your pockets but in the end…have fun deciding and I’m sure you will love the end result! ![]()
We have just installed a Hudson Reed bathroom 2 months ago.
I would advise against using them - the quality is poor - it looks pretty but the quality is poor.
The bath arrived damaged but it was not identified until later which they would not resolve. The bath creaks which is disturbing so we have not used it at all.
The quality of the taps and showers were poor - the Hansgrohe showers and taps I bought for the other bathrooms were much better quality.
Thanks @MikeyPotts this is super helpful - yes I def want a fairly decent standard as only want to do this once as feel it’s gonna be painful so will check on the bath weights - def don’t want the lightweight stuff! Sanitino looks a good site so will have a proper look at that tonight - I do like a bit of Duravit as it’s good quality. Might have to do a bit of mix and match between those and Hudson Reed!
ahh good to know, thank you and sorry yours hasn’t been great…I guess it might pay if we spend a bit more…back to investigating then! Thank you
You can see a quick video of it here as I don’t have photos:
It was an awkward shape room but an improvement from what was there before.
We have bought quite a lot of gear from this company:
Cool.
If you like Duravit then these dudes (alas with showrooms in Germany) are also great and sell Duravit too.
If you are close enough to a big city in France, you should be able to soon see Duravit stuff…I know that there’s a Villeroy Boch showroom in Montpellier for example.
Enjoy the journey
Sorry to hear this Mat. ![]()
I do quite like the baths and shower screens from Leroy Merlin and the shower trays from Ikea seem good and sensibly priced.
Ha ha, I never tested him with the short (1 metre) bath we used to have in our tiny bathroom. Then the English builder who rebuilt the kitchen and bathroom floors suggested a change to a shower tray. Sadly, for some reason we agreed but you can shower in a bath but you can’t bath in a shower.
That bath has been outside in the garden ever since and I am seriously considering using it out there, in summer at least. Oh, and by the way, I did bath our Rottie in it out there when he first came to us, he loved it. ![]()
