Ive just moved from Northern Ireland to France a couple of weeks ago.. Thought I’d try find some expats so here I am.

I’m from Belfast and have been in France for years. Still pop back regularly to see my old ma in Crawfordsburn.
I will move back permanently one day but hopefully not for many years.

Bought house in 1989 and moved full time in 1994 with two small children. Now moved from dept 29 to 66 where son and family live and work

I’m from East Belfast too.
I have a great circle of friends here but there’s no way my husband could cope with French admin if I died first. His understanding of written French is appalling.
We have no kids but I do have nieces and nephews in NI who would keep an eye on us later if necessary.
I’m back several times a year and find that everything - except seeing a doctor - is easier there.
Am about to retire and for the most active phase of our retirement, we plan to stay here for the cycling, dry climate and the excitement of being on a big European landmass.

I get what you mean.. And yes it’s hard to see a doc over there.
French admin is not the easiest thing.
I was born on the templemore ave just off the Newtownards Rd.
You enjoy it then?
Hah! I learnt to swim in Templemore baths.
Lived in France longer than the UK now.

In fairness, I can cope OK with the admin. And if you have an Irish passport, you will be spared much of the pain.
It’s really my husband who’s the problem. Sometimes think I should dump him and get a little dog.

The hospital is gone but I wonder if the baths are still there.
I lived over in annadale flats but my family are from mainly Bloomfield avenue and ballymacarett.

Sometimes and when I’m cross I revert back to broad Bucks bumpkin. My son is dual French/English and his kids are born Catalans whilst his partner is Breton. My daughter is dual US/brit with fluent French and Spanish. We are a very mixed lot in this family and my father’s side ancestors are the longboat invaders from Scandyland
