I have a question M. President - What would you ask François Hollande?

François Hollande is holding a press conference today.

Whoopee!

It was one of his 60 electoral campaign promises (remember those?) to hold one every six months to "be accountable for his actions" (or lack as the case may be).

If you need a reminder of what those 60 promises were and how he's doing, here's a reminder for the left-leaning daily Libération.

Anyway, back to today's presser.

If you were there and had the chance to ask one question, what would it be? And why?

Here, courtesy of Europe 1's website, is what a few people who've made the news in France over the past year would ask if they had the chance.

I would ask him about public consultation. It appears that the French government tells us they are doing what the French public want but their popularity clearly contradicts that. Both Blair and Brown were asked that question: the former did an excellent verbal imitation of an eel whereas the latter simply stammered and stuttered more than usual. Neither actually replied. Cameron has been asked but never attempts to respond. I have looked to see if Merkel has but cannot find but see that the SPD opposition is doing it often. Italy consider their all but twice weekly elections enough evidence (of what?). To pose that question to Hollande and press for an answer could be fun, I am getting déjà vu in more the direction of Broon but with some amateurish attempts to Blair it out thrown in just thinking how it might go.
