IKEA Solar Panels / Panneaux Solaires

I tried looking up “tignous router” but didn’t have much joy - I understand the principle of diverting energy, but is this another special bit of kit that you need to purchase to add to a system?

It is a French chap who has developed the solar diverters used in the UK for the French market since apparently there is a subtle difference. It is a combination of 3 units to be placed in the fuse box. Anyway, this website has the details and how to contact him. He is very helpful

You will also need to make a small adjustment to the PCB of your hot water tank if it is the traditional French variety since the thermocouple and heating element are on the same circuit and this needs to be separated. Details on this page

It looks more intimidating than it really is.

Not that I actually give a toss for the french rules on solar, the 1.8m height rule, panels need to be angled so is that 1.8m at the top of an inclined panel or the bottom?

AFAIAA it’s the top. Effectively it means thast you don’t need permission to ground mount them; anything else needs paperwork.

If you are going to connect the system to your household mains circuits, rather than a completely isolated circuit, you need to get ENEDIS approval with all the necessary isolation and other equipment needed to protect the electricity system from any faults in your equipment.

There is information

Wont be grid connecting so seperate circuits. Thanks.
Mounting on the roof of a lowish storage room single storage so hardly viewable from outside. Dont know if I will ask though. Any problems I will take them down when we sell.

I’m floundering… are you talking about France or UK…

Hi @PeterE - thanks for information.
Expanding the question a little, if the solar system is independent, not connect by to mains , is there an issue if the system generates too much power above what is being used ??

You look nothing like a flounder :joy: talking about france in this instance, far less silly rules in the UK. I am about the environment not some french bureaucracy that needs bring up to date.

Jumping in, if you have batteries you can store the excess or have a heating element to warm your water tank.

In France, it’s not difficult to keep on the right side of things.

Probably only the “Décleration préalable” which is very straightforward…

Thank you, will probably meet with the mairie as his assistant is really helpful.

You’ll probably be OK as long as they aren’t too big. But, as with undeclared of swimming pools, garden buildings, tennis courts, etc, they’ll possibly be detected from the aerial photographs the fisc are now experimenting with reviewing.

Is it about money or the environment??
This years fine would be another years mandated improvement. :joy:

For systems < 3kW, you are only have to inform ENEDIS of your setup and upload documentation of your inverters. There is no approval

Hi Chidders. I haven’t a clue what would happen is you generate more electricity than you use if you aren’t connected to the grid. I guess you could always have a few resistance elements to consume the excess electricity eg some bar heaters
