My partner (who is, at the moment, still in the UK) has just found an advert for a French-registered car for sale in the UK.
I’m not in the market (just yet) for another car but, I was wondering, if I was to buy such a vehicle and bring it to France, would I still have to go through the importation process and would it still attract VAT and import duty?
If it’s still French registered then no. However, you really need to be sure that the seller is the person named on the carte grise and that they can do the ANTS transfer to you. Otherwise, you risk having an expensive ornament.
