Importing my UK car told it doesn't need a CoC?

A couple of years ago I got a bmw and porsche reregistered from UK to France and neither of them actually needed the CoC, although I did go to the trouble and expense beforehand of getting CoC’s from bmw France and porsche France, which later proved to be a waste of money and time.

That’s correct. When I re-reg my 2007 Peugeot 307 [RHD] in 2021 - or I should say that an ex-member of this forum, Mark Rimmer, did the paperwork - these entries on the V5 meant that a CoC was not required. These codes are type identifiers in the European vehicle datatbase.

Mark ‘retired’ from Survive France but can be found on FB. I don’t do FB, so I have never contacted him that way. I have his email address and, with his consent, will pass it on to you if you PM me.

Mark, as part of his business as a garagiste, specialises in GB > FR registration. In my case £40 extremely well spent.

I do have the codes in the D2 section of myV5 maybe i will be lucky. Still got to get my 846A certificate first.

I would expect that luck is not necc. Those codes are there for a reason - as identifiers to Euro types. They should suffice. I wouldn’t lash out any dosh until you have established that those V5 codes do not do the biz.

Mmmm. Maybe that’s why VW France have said a CoC is not required. It will bee nice to speak to Mark if possible.

Mark Rimmer was appreciative that I asked permission to send on his email address to the OP so I am going to post it here, for general consumption, for anyone who might need his services in registration matters.

And seconded on Mark’s services, he registered two for me a while back.

Some cars have the CoC in the owners manual, my xc90 did but the S60R didnt, I got one from Volvo Sweden free. Have you checked there.

Mark has confirmed my car does not need a CoC but, that will depend on the person on the desk at ANTS.

Captainendeavour the luck has to come back. LOL

So the answer was delivered in the first three replies
