Insurance for Yearly Visa Application

Hi guys, I have just finished my six month visa in France and I have decided to go all in and apply for a years visa with a view to residency.

So I know I need adequate and valid health insurance (I’m 59) and I need to show it at the TLS interview, but does the insurance have to have already started when I go up there or can it have a separate start date I.e visa start date?

Thanks , Tony

Annoyingly, I can’t remember the answer.

We got ours through @fabien (links at the top of the page) whose team are really very good and responsive.

I think ours had already started, and it was non-refundable. Assuming you’ll be applying for 12 months, the idea is to get yourself into the system and then (if you want) get a mutuelle, replacing the full coverage you need to start with.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi Tony, it’s actually a good question as the answer is often times commercial. Legally speaking you only need a policy that starts when you visa starts (the “intended arrival date” you lay down on your VLS-TS application) but a lot of companies out there prefer to sell it to you with an earlier start date claiming it’s for security or whatever reasons. Like porridge said we have a dedicated team for that and literally 0 rejections since we created our own products for visas, just in case you prefer emails to online calculators => hello@fabfrenchinsurance.com we’ll also advise on the visa process itself to make sure you are all set for your interview :+1::ok_hand:
