When we talked to EdF about our solar panels, coloured ones were mentioned. If the council had objected to dark ones, we could have had terracotta colour.

Great to see some progress to shut up the various busy bodies.

These are more efficient than the Tesla tiles? I looked into them when we need our roof done but the EU release was delayed sadly. We couldn’t use black panels in the village sadly

No idea but the problem with Tesla tiles was getting them and they are toughened glass so cannot be cut. The more favorable German ones seem to be available in some more traditional EU styles.

Not 95% efficient, that isn’t possible. The article says they have 95% of the efficiency of a non coated cell. Most uncoated panels are in the low 20% for efficiency.

A while back we (the guys I work with) about efficiency of PV panels compared to photosynthesis, and why one was so much more effective. The reason is partially that the enzymes etc required are fragile, but get auto-renewed in a way that’s not possible for a conventional PV system.

Very true, I know that’s what they meant. Newer panels around 23% conversion rate.

The energy conversion in photosynthesis is it seems almost 100% efficient, at it’s heart it seems to be mainly down to quantum mechanics :exploding_head:. But the conversion to useful things is very inefficient.

Fascinating isn’t it. Love things from bio mimicry. Even us humans using red light to increase some biomarkers.
