Internet radio recommendations?

I could probably do that with the Sonos in the kitchen, if the bloody app would store favourites which it completely refuses to do. I’m glad I didn’t pay good money for it.

I love my Internet radios. I have 3 Roberts 93i models. Bought in UK and not cheap. But they are perfect for my needs.

Work via home WiFi or via mobile phone hotspot.

They can do all online radio stations (worldwide it seems) tho I listen to only 3! (LBC and 2 French ones!)

Spotify is on it, but i have never tried that. Podcasts are an option too.

Presets, alarms, all sorts but I stick to the basics, as i can’t be bothered to read the manual properly!

There is a remote control with each one too. (Unused my me!)

If one of mine stopped working, I do wonder what other models are out there which are cheaper but which would still do the job. As I love my Internet radios!

Roberts still make a similar one (I think) but it is designed to be “retro”. Like my granddad’s. And expensive as a result.

Think i prefer the digital/modern look!

I have a NAIM Muso…it wasn’t cheap at the time but amazing sound. Perhaps worth a look (listen)…mine is perhaps 9 years old and still perfect and I suspect the new ones are just as good?

Naim uniti atom is very good if you have the budget. But on balance the Bluesound I found better for a lot less.

I’ve got an old Roberts radio and a newer version, and they’re ok, use them mainly for news and radio chat, but wanted another one for music. I chose this Majority internet radio. I’m no expert but the sound quality really is very good. Sounds good to me.

I bought it via Amazon in 2024, but not sure if the same model is still available on Amazon.

Radio Paradise is a “listener supported” internet radio station, without advertising. “History. The station was started in February 2000 by Bill Goldsmith and his wife, Rebecca Goldsmith. Bill had worked in radio since leaving high school in 1971 and began to experiment with webcasting in 1995.” It used to have its hq in Paradise, California but moved to Eureka, luckily before the deadly fires in 2018 which killed 85 people.

If you like RP and listen regularly, they hope you will donate monthly, if you can afford it.

At the moment there are 5 different streams available. Main mix, Rockit, Mellow mix, Beyond (which is Jazz) and your favourites, (drawn from the tunes you have scored from 1 - 10) For instance I have been a listener since 2012 and have 1,958 tunes that I have scored 8 or above, 5,926 over 5 and I can have them playing one after another, no ads. The library is vast and eclectic from the “main mix”. You can choose from 9 different sound qualities depending on your equipment and Internet signal. Give it a try, I thoroughly recommend it.
